Feed the Future Monitoring System

Feed the Future Monitoring System

The Feed the Future Monitoring System (FTFMS) is part of an interagency effort to consolidate U.S. Government reporting on Feed the Future activities. FTFMS collects and stores information at the implementing mechanism level for all USAID Missions receiving Agriculture, Nutrition (Focus countries only), or Food for Peace development funding (all countries).

The Decision Support and Informatics unit of the Global Center for Food System Innovation at Michigan State University developed a web-based application that allows users to choose a set or combination of activities/indicators/years along with the corresponding number. Meanwhile, the following procedures were performed to improve the visualization experience and remove inconsistency in data reporting.

  • The Global Administrative Areas known as the GADM database (www.gadm.org) was used for all administrative boundaries. However, for the cases in which the internal administrative boundaries were changed, the old and new versions of GADM were compared and the new name was reported.
  • The reported boundary for each activity was simplified and converted to GeoJSON format.
  • Some FTFMS records were modified to remove errors and overlapping areas. For more information click here.
