Gender in South Africa

Obesity rates have more than doubled in the past 15 years in West Africa, with rates highest among urban women. In sub-Saharan Africa, recent mothers have the double burden of being overweight and undernourished. In South Africa, more women are overweight than underweight. This holds for both rural and urban areas.

The interactive map below shows indicators such as undernourishment, depth of food, and GDP. Additionally, the info-graphic describes under and overweight female populations in Africa.
